International Crisis Contacts

**If you are in crisis and are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, it is critical that you reach out to a healthcare professional.  If you do not have a counsellor or other mental health professional that you have previously connect with, go to the closest emergency department for help.

How to Access

On the front page of the Talkspace website, you will find a button titled, "Get matched now!"  Once you hit that, you will be taken to a chat agent to start the online therapy process.  

Bounce Back Resources and Coaching

What is Bounce Back?

Bounce Back, a service supported by the Canadian Mental Health Association and Provincial Health Services, is a free online mood therapy program.  The program services individuals fifteen and over.  Services include up to six session with an online coach and online materials providing tools to support your wellness journey.

Who Can Refer to Bounce Back?

In order to participate in the program, individuals must be connected to a healthcare professional and live in British Columbia, Canada  You physician, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, or secondary school counsellor can forward your referral to the program.

Kelty’s Key Online Therapy

Kelty's Key is an online therapy and self-help program accessible to anyone living in the Provence of British Columbia, Canada.  Supported by Vancouver Coastal Health, all services come at no charge. 

You have the opportunity to engage with a one-to-one training clinician, and/or tap into modules allowing you to work at your own pace.  Content areas in the modules include:

  • Anxiety
  • Chronic Pain
  • Complicated Grief
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Family Support
  • Panic
  • Substance Use

Kelty's Key also has a resource to help you find an online therapist anywhere in the Greater Vancouver area.

Online SMART Recovery Meetings

SMART Recovery (Self-Managed and Recovery Training), support individuals who abstain or are trying to abstain from all types of addictive behaviours.  The SMART model does not adhere to the AA/NA approach to abstinence.

SMART Recovery attempts the following:

  • Promotes self-empowerment and self-reliance.
  • Encourages individuals to recover and live happy lives.
  • Provides tools for self-directed change.
  • Utilizes education and open discussion to promote change.
  • Does not oppose prescribed medications and psychological treatments.
  • Evolves with scientific knowledge and consensus.

You can access the SMART Recovery Online Community year round, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  You must register to access the forum, online chat, and online meetings provided at smartrecovery.org.

Online NA Meetings

Fundamentals of Addiction – CAMH

Course Overview

This course is put on by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).  In this course, you will gain a broad understanding of addiction through the lens of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), including both substance misuse and problem gambling.  Through a biopsychosocial perspective, the course covers social determinants of health, harm reduction, screening and assessment methods in addictions, treatment, and legal/ethical considerations.

Target Audience

This 8-week online course is intended for professionals working with those presenting with addiction issues.  The cost of the course is $425.00 as listed on the CAMH website.
