Introduction to CBT
Thanks for joining our livestream today. We are honoured you have chosen to watch us over the 2023 Super Bowl. I am excited to provide you this brief introduction to CBT. Over the years, this approach has informed much of the work I have done in collaboration with patients. The approach remains accessible and generalizes well, making the tools found in CBT stand the test of time.
The Triple Column Technique (TCT) was developed by Dr. David Burns. The approach is best applied to managing anxiety and depression rooted in the way we think. In this introduction to CBT, I expose you to a series of cognitive distortions and apply the TCT in a real world example. As part of this exercise, I discuss ten (10) cognitive distortions needed to fully implement the approach. Thank you for joining the discussion along the way.
